2018 Les Charmes du Marquis Bordeaux Superieur, France
Still quite youthful, this Bordeaux Superieur will evolve and become even more complex over the next few years.
About This Wine:
Vintners like Les Charmes du Marquis keep this promise by embracing higher quality standards, including the use of grapes grown on older vines in densely planted vineyards, making sure the grapes attain a required level of ripeness of fruit and natural sugar levels upon harvest, and lower harvest yields.
Another requirement is that the wine must be aged in oak barrels for a minimum of 12 months. And, of course, only the six accepted Bordeaux varieties may be used in crafting the blends: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Carmenere. Most wines consist mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot.
Like most Bordeaux Superieur makers, Les Charmes du Marquis does not reveal the precise varietal makeup. What we can tell you about the 2018 vintage is that it's youthful, fruitful and truly superior.
