Brand: Marimar Estate
Varietal: Pinot Noir
About This Wine:
Nestled in the rolling hills of western Sonoma County, the area is influenced by the Pacific Ocean’s cooling breezes and drifting fog. That’s why Marimar Torres selected it to “export” the Torres family legacy of fine wines from Spain to California.
Torres has been involved in the wine business all her life. Born in 1945 in Barcelona, she is fluent in six languages and holds a degree in Business and Economics from the University of Barcelona. She also studied Enology and Viticulture at the University of California at Davis.
In 1986, Torres began planting the Don Miguel Vineyard, a 56-acre Russian River property that provided the fruit for the Marimar Estate “Metodo Antiguo” Pinot Noir, made in a style using whole-cluster fermentation that takes place within the berries. It’s a slower, cooler fermentation that contributes to less tannin, superior mid-palate sensation and spectacular wines.
