2019 Wollombi Pass South Eastern Australia Shiraz

Have you ever really given much thought to how grapes are transformed into that delicious elixir we call wine? There’s so much more to it than meets the eye, and every decision that’s made along the way has an impact on the finished product.

Take the 2019 Wollombi Pass Shiraz as an example. Its story begins in the vineyards of South Eastern Australia — that country’s prime growing region — where only the finest fruit was selected for the cuvee. The story continued in the cellar, where specific yeasts were selected to spark the fermentation process. And it culminated with the type and age of the barrels utilized for aging the finished wine.

The cuvee’s unique, Dr Pepper-like spice nuance comes from those barrels, as does the cinnamon note. Other impressions also are the result of barrel aging, making for a complex, layered and absolutely wonderful wine.
