About This Wine:
That’s when Hermann Heinz Theodor Schroeder settled in Argentina’s Patagonia region and began working in the wine trade. In 2001, Hermann Schroeder, the son of this German immigrant, jump-started Familia Schroeder with his sons, who now operate the estate.
The dream of a family of wine pioneers came to fruition with the building of a state-of-the-art facility to produce the best wines possible. Familia Schroeder’s winery and vineyards are located in the San Patricio del Chañar area — the heart of Argentina’s southernmost wine region.
The family’s sweet sparkling wine, known as “Deseado,” is the result of a single fermentation interrupted by cooling when 8.5% alcohol is reached. The sweetness of the residual sugar is balanced by firm acidity. Delightfully fresh and fragrant, it’s frothy and quite similar to Moscato d’Asti. And in the 2019 and 2020 Glass of Bubbly wine competition, it was a gold medal winner in the dessert category.
