2019 Dr. Pauly Bergweiler 'Noble House' Mosel, Germany Riesling

The estate’s vineyards are planted primarily on difficult-to-cultivate river valley hillsides. The main variety: Riesling. Extensive care of these vineyards, combined with intentionally low yields and selective sorting, serve as guarantors of extraordinary wines of unique character.

The focus on quality extends to the cellar just outside of Bernkastel, where the Riesling grapes are processed in modern facilities and receive gentle treatment. The wines are crafted carefully to ensure that the aromas and flavors of a given vineyard are maintained. (The estate consists of 15 distinct vineyard sites between the villages of Brauneberg and Erden.)

Further protection is undertaken during the fermentation process, which is temperature controlled and kept very slow at low temperatures. That’s why the 2019 “Noble House” Riesling is no aptly named: It’s a noble wine that deliciously reflects its Mosel vineyards.
