2019 Old Train Depot Lodi, California Petite Sirah

The 2019 vintage from Old Train Depot is a quintessential Petite Sirah, described by one member of our tasting panel as a “flavor burrito” of enticing fruit and spice impressions.

The grapes for the wine were grown in California’s Lodi region, an area known primarily for Zinfandel. But there are substantial plantings of Petite Sirah as well, as the two varieties fare best in the same climate — one that Lodi provides. Not only that, sustainable farming has been practiced in the region for nearly 200 years by generations of grape growers.

The 2019 Old Train Depot Petite Sirah draws you in with its pretty vanilla, blueberry and baking spice aromas, which follow through on the palate and remain present in the finish. Along the way, notes of cocoa, cassis and chocolate make themselves known, resulting in a concentrated and intense wine that’s a pure pleasure to drink.
