About This Wine:

Bottlings of Cabernet Sauvignon are some of the most prized wines produced in California. The grape also is the main ingredient in blends for many of the world’s most famous red wines, including those from France’s Bordeaux appellation. And renditions such as the featured bottling from Sparrow Creek can be enjoyed as soon as they’re released.

DNA research at the University of California at Davis has revealed Cabernet Sauvignon to be a cross between the Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc grapes. The variety is California’s most widely planted red winegrape, with 77,602 acres reported in 2010.

In supermarkets, Cabernet Sauvignon represents about 14 percent of the wine volume sold, according to The Nielsen Company. But you’ll never find Sparrow Creek Cabernet Sauvignon in a market. It’s crafted in limited quantities, and our wine finders were able to procure an allotment for our club members. That makes it a prized wine, indeed.
