2018 Clos Pegase California Chardonnay

Within the Michael Graves-designed estate are 20,000 square feet of caves dug into the volcanic knoll immediately behind the winery. The entire facility was designed with the grand portico entrance acting like a dividing line that separates the southern side focused on the wine production and the northern side on wine enjoyment.

The caves are laid out in a similar manner. The southern side houses barrels in a temperature and humidity-controlled environment, while the northern side includes a unique Cave Theater — a dramatic setting for celebrations and special events, including dinners and concerts.

If you can’t get to Clos Pegase, enjoy the fruit of its labor with the 2018 Chardonnay. It’s clear lemon yellow in color, has a smooth delivery on the palate, and its bright acid helps maintain a pleasant balance. Prepare to become a long-distance fan.
