About This Wine:
Something of a hidden gem within the Central Coast region, the valley is authentically rustic and charming. It’s a breathtakingly scenic valley with its rural landscapes of strawberry fields and pumpkin patches interspersed among the vineyards.
Located south of the city of San Luis Obispo and north of the town of Arroyo Grande, the valley is roughly bounded by Lake Lopez to the south and Islay Hill to the north. Its coastal climate and rich soils are set against rolling hills and a mountain backdrop — perfect for growing cool-climate grapes and producing award-winning Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
The grapes for the 2018 Chalkstone Pinot Noir were entirely hand harvested during the cool overnight hours and processed immediately upon delivery to the winery in the morning. The finished wine is defined by its deep fruit flavor — a hallmark of Pinot Noir from “California’s Tuscany.”
