Established in 1994 by Sue and Greg White, WHITEHAVEN is a family owned winery situated in the heart of the world renowned Marlborough region of New Zealand.
At WHITEHAVEN we pride ourselves on the exclusive use of Marlborough grapes in all our wines, a policy that ensures we deliver truly authentic Marlborough flavours in every bottle of WHITEHAVEN. It’s a claim few wineries can match today.
Under the careful supervision of our skilled viticulture team, only the best quality grapes are sourced from proven vineyard sites and dedicated growers spread across this special region.
The company’s winemaking philosophy is centred on the pursuit of quality without compromise. Chief winemaker Sam Smail leads a talented winemaking team totally committed to this philosophy. Using New World techniques and Old World craftsmanship, Sam and his team are focused on crafting a portfolio of varietal wines that deliver an enviable mix of quality, intensity and consistency, all with an elegant edge.
WHITEHAVEN produces a diverse portfolio of classic Marlborough wines, truly characteristic of the region. This portfolio includes our award winning Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Rosé and Noble Riesling.
WHITEHAVEN wines are marketed in New Zealand and around the world through our partners in Australia, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Canada and the United States.
Whitehaven has no available wines.
The precision of a scientific mind coupled with the creative flair of an innovator gives senior winemaker Sam Smail his edge. Sam has been with the Whitehaven since 2000; his role, the crossover between science and art.
Sioban brings open-minded objectivity and academic self-discipline to her role as Viticulturist for Whitehaven. She holds a key position at the winery; managing Whitehaven’s own vineyards and responsible for maintaining close relationships with Whitehaven’s dedicated contract growers.
Rowan has learned his craft amongst the soils and vines of Marlborough. In fact, Rowan has the closest of connections with the grapes he now works with each vintage. During his studies for his Diploma in Viticulture and Winemaking, he was also labouring for Whitehaven to help establish the vineyard surrounding the company’s new Pauls Road winery.
