2021 Chalkstone California Vermentino

The varieties do share some common aromas and flavors, but they couldn’t be more different when it comes to their heritage and history. While many believe the grape originally came from Spain, there are significant vineyard plantings in many parts of the Mediterranean.

In fact, some of the best-known Vermentino wines come from the island of Sardinia, where the vintners embrace a crisp and citrusy style that is underscored by using no oak in the aging process. It’s also the most widely planted white grape on the island of Corsica, where more full-bodied and floral renditions are produced.
